De past few weeks have been particularly stormy for KTM fans and the offroad world. KTM AG is going through a difficult phase. The company is undergoing a restructuring process and major adjustments are also being made within motorsport. Nevertheless, Pit Beirer, head of the motorsport department, sounds combative. His message is clear: KTM will continue to compete, also in 2025, with undiminished passion. In an interview with Salzburger Nachrichten, the German emphasizes: “We will continue in every class we are active in. Whatever we do, we do 100 percent. But our focus is now completely on Orange.” A clear message: despite all the changes, KTM remains true to itself, although the company will operate more efficiently and leaner in the future.
Focus on the core: Orange is central
Motorsport is not a sideshow for KTM! It is the backbone of the company’s strategy. Beirer explains clearly and forcefully: “Motorsport and our success over the past twenty years are inextricably linked. It is our most powerful marketing tool.” But in challenging times, focus is crucial. That is why KTM is drastically reducing the use of its sister brands Husqvarna and GasGas. Where previously three brands were widely represented in various racing classes, this is no longer sustainable. The changes are drastic: budgets are being tightened, racing programs are being shortened, and attention is being focused entirely on the core, KTM.
