DThe MX2 qualification for the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations was won by Tom Vialle. The Frenchman won after a duel with Lucas Coenen. However, the Belgian made a mistake and had to settle for second place. Simon Laengenfelder completes the top three ahead of Max Anstie. Kay de Wolf briefly holds second place but due to a crash the Husqvarna rider has to settle for fifth place.

When the starting gate disappears from view, Vialle takes the best start on the Matterley Basin circuit. The KTM rider takes the best start ahead of Cooper Webb, Max Anstie and Kyle Webster. The Australian makes a mistake on the first lap, causing him to lose places. This allows De Wolf to join Anstie, who puts pressure on Yamaha colleague Webb. Both pass Webb, who later also sees Coenen pass. The Briton cannot stay ahead of the Husqvarna riders, after which the Dutch and Belgian enter into a duel. A small mistake causes the new MX2 world champion to fall. Coenen then gets in sight of Vialle and the five-second deficit is made up. Vialle makes a mistake, causing him to go off the circuit, but a little later the Belgian makes a mistake. Coenen falls and loses the connection. Vialle wins ahead of Coenen and Germany, De Wolf has an exciting moment, but the Eersel native finishes fifth, just like his compatriot Herlings.
