Dhe qualifying heat of the Motocross of Nations was held this Saturday at Matterley Basin in Great Britain. During the three races of the day, it was the Spanish who came out on top. The team led by Jorge Prado, Ruben Fernandez and Oriol Oliver won the first race of the day. The three men will be the first to start in each of the three races of the day tomorrow, Sunday. Behind them are the French and the Australians. Belgium finished in 8th place.
Tom Vialle led the MX2 moto from start to finish, finishing just under 10 seconds ahead of an excellent Lucas Coenen, who had come back from fourth place. Simon Laengenfelder, Max Anstie and Kay de Wolf completed the top five. Cooper Webb, who agreed at short notice to ride MX5 for the American team, finished seventh.
In the MXGP race, reigning world champion Jorge Prado dominated the race from start to finish. The Spaniard finished ahead of Tim Gajser and Romain Febvre. Hunter Lawrence and Jeffrey Herlings followed, ahead of Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac, who signed up for the MX des Nations at the last minute to replace the injured Chase Sexton.
In the Open class, Jett Lawrence was clearly the fastest. The Australian stayed ahead of Ruben Fernandez, Maxime Renaux and the Brit Conrad Mewse. Jago Geerts came 9th.
