In sunny Heerde, New Zealand has won the 85cc world title thanks to Levi Townley. The Yamaha rider came first and third on the Gelderland circuit, which means he can call himself world champion 20 years after his father Ben. Lucas Leok (4-1) came second ahead of Dex van den Broek (10-2), who let his tears flow freely after a particularly difficult year. Lukas Spigeleer (19th), Jenairo Beerens (20th) and Jannes Vos (24th) also managed to get into the points.

1e some
Moritz Ernecker is the fastest in training and he also makes the best start in the first heat. Townley follows ahead Sleny Goyer, Jekabs Hudolejs and Kenzo Ferez. In the first round, Viktor Lappala manages to work his way up to fourth place behind the Frenchman Goyer, who won the 85cc competition of Le Touquet last year. The top four distance themselves from Hudolejs who cannot keep up with the pace. After about eight minutes of the race, leader Ernecker makes a mistake and falls. Townley takes the lead while Leppala has caught Goyer moments before. The Finn seems to be joining the leader, but he is putting things in order. The 14-year-old Townley takes distance and wins for Goyer! The little Frenchman manages to sneak up on Leppala and strikes just before the sign of the last two laps. Leppala crosses the finish line in third place ahead of Lucas Leok and Wyatt Duff who came out of the first corner in 17th place! The Dutch have to settle for a supporting role in this round. After problems in the initial phase, Van den Broek manages to drive from 30th to tenth place. Lukas Spigeleer, eliminated earlier this year with a broken thigh, managed to finish 15th. The other Lowlanders do not score.

2e some
In the first heat, Leok attacked Goyer, who managed to climb to second place in the final phase. Now the son of Aigar Leok has left no doubt and he is firmly taking charge. Ernecker, who finished eighth in the first round, drifts into the second corner and manages to avoid a crash, but has both legs on the same side of the GasGas. Casey Karstrom comes into the pits in second place, followed by Ricardo Bauer and Neo Nindelt. At that moment Leppala gets up, he has already fallen after 20 meters and throws away his chances of the podium. Hudolejs manages to pass Karstrom, Bauer and Nindelt in the first lap. The Latvian comes in second place, but not much later he crashes. Van den Broek enters the top five in the third round, chased by Townley. At the front, Leok distances himself from Karstrom, who is being pushed hard by five riders. After about ten minutes of competition, 13-year-old Van den Broek can take over second place from the Dane. The difference with the leader is then six seconds, but that only increases. The duel for second place continues to the finish and the rider from Deurne wins against the New Zealander who takes the world title. Goyer looks set to finish seventh, which would put him third in the overall standings. A mistake in the final phase ensures that Leppala finds the connection and the Frenchman falls out of the top ten moments later! Van den Broek is therefore allowed to take the podium, to the delight of the family and the supervisors who have had to do a lot of work in recent months due to the injury of their rider. Jenairo Beerens crosses the finish line in 16th place and Jannes Vos manages to reward his rehabilitation with a point!
