ALast Sunday the MX2/Open Inters continued their championship battle in Mill, Brabant. It was John Cuppen who could count himself the luckiest. With a first and a fourth place in the heats he took the day's victory in the MX Open Inters. Daan Bruijsten took second place in the day's classification with a third and second place. Based on the second heat he kept Bram van den Hoek behind him, who fell in a winning position and therefore had to be satisfied with third place. Kay Ebben was certainly not happy after the first heat. In this heat he came sixth. However, he did manage to win the second heat, which still made him fourth in the day's classification. Championship leader Stan van Zoggel completed the top five.
There was another victory for Kevin van Dam in the MX2 inters. With the full 120 points he strengthened his leading position in the championship. The Belgian Brian Peirsman came second ahead of Sjors Verhees. Jippe Selen and Bart Pijpers completed the top five. The next competition in these two classes will be in Berghem next Sunday.
First heat
Cuppen took the holeshot ahead of Van den Hoek, Bruijsten, Jamie Lucas and van Zoggel. Cuppen and Van den Hoek had a five-second lead over Bruijsten after two laps. Lucas followed again five seconds behind with Boyd van der Voorn, Ebben, Van Zoggel and Ebben right behind him. While Van Zoggel had immediately seen Van der Voorn pass him by, Ebben also followed shortly afterwards. Halfway through the heat it was Van der Voorn who crashed, putting Van Zoggel back in fifth place. Cuppen and van den Hoek fought the entire heat for the heat victory without changing positions. They drove further and further away from Bruijsten. It was Cuppen who won the round ahead of Van den Hoek. Lucas had to give in to Bruijsten little by little in the final phase of the heat. Bruijsten saw the checkered flag in third place ahead of Lucas. Three laps before the flag dropped, Van Zoggel fought past Ebben again. The Ebben/van Zoggel duel allowed Lucas to increase his lead and finish fourth. Behind this came Van Zoggel who had quickly driven away from Ebben.
Second heat
It was now Ebben who had the best start ahead of Bruijsten, Van den Hoek, Davey Janssen and Lucas. Van den Hoek quickly passed Bruijsten and came second at the second crossing. Janssen had started to fall back and saw Lucas and Cuppen pass him by. Cuppen also passed Lucas and now finished fourth. This put Van den Hoek in the best position to take the day's victory and a slip by Ebben also gave him the lead. Lucas had already let the front four go and he got into trouble halfway through the moto and saw Van Zoggel pass him by. Three laps before the finish, van den Hoek lost both the heat and the day's victory. In the same corner where he benefited from a slip by Ebben, he now crashed. Both Ebben and Bruijsten passed him by. Van den Hoek was unable to repair the damage suffered and saw Ebben take the heat victory ahead of Bruijsten. Van den Hoek followed third. Cuppen benefited most from the situation and only needed fourth place to take the day's victory. Van Zoggel followed well behind in fifth.
