DThe Belgian Grand Prix has been held in Lommel for years and has built up a considerable record of GP victories and illustrious names. This year there will be an MXGP again, which will be held in the weekend of 27 and 28 July. It also looks like both Jago Geerts and Brent Van Doninck will be at the start again. Co-op here your tickets at a discount.

The first major competition was held in 1981 and was the Trophee des Nations. That was then won by Team USA with Roger De Coster as team manager. A very special GP was that of 1997 when the Estonian Avo Leok won the GP 500cc by complete surprise. He had trained hard in the winter at the Heeserbergen and won the opening competition that was held in Lommel that year. Leok won in the rain and mud on a Kawasaki KX500.

Most victories in Lommel are in the name of reigning world champion Jorge Prado. He won four times in Lommel. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 he was victorious in MX2 and in 2020 in MXGP. No fewer than six pilots were able to win three times in the brutal sand. They were Max Anstie, Tom Vialle, Jago Geerts, Jeffrey Herlings, Tim Gajser and Antonio Cairoli. In 2012 an MXoN was held for the second time. Then the German team won with Max Nagl, Ken Roczen and Marcus Schiffer. Belgium and the USA came second and third.

The last Belgian victory was in 2016. Kevin Strijbos rode for the Suzuki factory team of Stefan Everts and beat Max Nagl and Tony Cairoli. The year 2020 was special again. Due to the corona crisis, a triptych was held, which is why you see three results below under that year.
