DThis weekend the roar of the Motocross World Championship has broken loose in Argentina. The first MX2 series has just been held and won by German GasGas rider Simon Laengenfelder.

The start was taken very nicely by Sacha Coenen as he took the lead in the first corner. Marc-Antoine Rossi quickly took over the lead from the Belgian. Lucas Coenen made an attack in the first lap, but it ended in a crash.

That crash seemed to be accompanied by pain because Coenen then drove to the pits at a very low pace and gave up. Rossi was in the lead after three laps ahead of Thibault Benistant and Simon Laengenfelder. The two Triumphs of Mikkel Haarup and Camden McLellan were in P5 and P9 at the time.

Halfway through the race, Rossi continued to impress by defending a small 5-second lead tooth and nail. Sacha Coenen rode in a nice sixth place with a view of Mikkel Haarup's position.

With six minutes left on the clock, the leader crashed and had to watch as Benistant gratefully took the coveted spot. A little later Laengenfelder came knocking on the Frenchman's door and took over the lead without batting an eyelid. Rossi crashed again on the last lap and lost a place. Kay de Wolf surprisingly sprinted alongside Benistant in the last corner and finished second after winner Laengenfelder. Benistant came third.

The second series of MX19 will follow later at 15:2 PM.
