IIn Villa La Angostura, Lucas Coenen has claimed the first pole position of the season. The Belgian wins the qualifying race on Saturday afternoon ahead of teammate Kay de Wolf and reigning world champion Andrea Adamo. Simon Langenfelder crosses the finish line in fourth place ahead of Thibault Benistant. Sacha Coenen is good for ninth place while Rick Elzinga does not score any points with an eleventh place. Jens Walvoort crosses the finish line in 20th place during his first GP qualifying.
Italian Adamo takes the best start during the 20-minute, two-lap qualifying race. His teammate Sacha Coenen follows ahead of Langenfelder and De Wolf. The German quickly passes the little Belgian and then also sees De Wolf pass. The Eersel resident quickly manages to pass the GasGas driver for second place, but Adamo is not surprised. After ten minutes of the match, Lucas Coenen reaches the right temperature and switches up. He manages to move forward very well and two laps before the end he takes the lead. De Wolf moves past Adamo, but the 17-year-old Belgian wins ahead of his teammate and Adamo.
Tomorrow afternoon at 16:00 PM and 19:00 PM (European time), both heats will be held on the Villa La Angostura circuit. The images can be viewed LIVE via MXGP-TV.com, the Discovery Plus streaming service and the Belgian Play Sports!
