Jwell, today it's exactly fifty years ago that the coolest motocrosser of all time saw the light of day. We can't look inside the head of the birthday boy but those five decades must have flown by. Stefan went fast, very fast.
With ten world titles, 101 Grand Prix victories and a whole host of other achievements, Everts has undeniably entered the history books. It hurt, it brought tears, it was a rough, thorn-strewn “Stairway to Glory” but in the end he overcame all the obstacles that came his way.
Many motocross enthusiasts have followed his career with an almost unhealthy enthusiasm. Many motocross riders received a beating from him, but everyone became a fan. His recognizable driving style is etched in the collective memory: Smooth, standing on the footrests leaning over the handlebars, “touching” the throttle with a velvet glove.

Stefan Everts is an example for many young riders. Sixteen years ago he pulled the plug, but now you see young talents persistently trying to copy that efficient driving style. They are right. He now sees Abraham for the first time and that is a milestone in a human life. Today he blows out 50 candles and we didn't want to let that pass without celebrating The Legend in a special way.
We received many ex-riders and well-known people from the sport to send their congratulations. They really come from all over the world. And, because he is currently in the country, even Sinterklaas sent congratulations to the birthday boy. We collected all the congratulations in the video below. Stefan, also from the entire editorial staff of MXVintage and MXMag, we wish you a heartfelt happy 50th birthday and many more years of health and prosperity.
