DThe best supermoto riders in the world were at the start in Romania last weekend. In addition to the usual S1 and EC S2 class, there were also the S3 and S85cc on the program. Anyone who goes to watch a supermoto GP will have a well-filled program.
Thomas Chareyre shows class!
In the first heat of the S1 class it was Mauno Hermunen who took the holeshot ahead of Thomas Chareyre. However, Thomas quickly took the lead and no one could come close to the talented Frenchman. In the background, Adrien Chareyre and Ivan Lazzarini had a tough chat, during which they also overtook Hermunen. However, Adrien came out on top in this match and finished just after his brother in second place.
The second series was one to die for. Mauno Hermunen took the holeshot and almost immediately set a blistering pace. It even went too fast for Thomas Chareyre, he fell down in the third round, but just as quickly as he fell he got back up and came back to the front. Ivan Lazzarini, meanwhile, had finished second. Thomas's brother, Adrien Chareyre, had also fallen, damaging his motorcycle. Thomas was making a great comeback to take second place. Ivan Lazzarini came third.
In the daily rankings, Thomas Chareyre is in first place, Mauno Hermunen in second place and Ivan Lazzarini in third place. In the championship standings, the top two are the same, but Adrien Chareyre is third, one point ahead of Lazzarini.
Another Dutch party in the S2
At the start of the first series, our Dutch friend Devon Vermeulen had to let Yuri Guardala and Fabrizio Bartolini go first. But on lap 5 the engine fired up completely for Devon. He squeezed a great lap time out of his TM bike and took first place with full conviction. Guardala came second and Bartolini third.
In the second heat it was Yuri Guardala again with the holeshot, but after less than one lap Fabrizio Bartolini stormed past. Devon Vermeulen waited a while for third place. Once Vermeulen struck, there was no stopping him and he won this second series with a lead of no less than six seconds. Bartolini made a few too many mistakes and only finished fifth. Guardala and Toni Klem finished second and third.
Devon Vermeulen also wins the second GP of the season with a double and is on the day's podium above Yuri Guardala and Toni Klem. In the season standings, the Dutchman leaves Fabrizio Bartolini and Toni Klem behind.
