James Stewart (SX450) and Adam Cainciarulo (SX250) became the big winners at the Ford Field Stadium in Detroit. It was already the third SX victory of the season for both drivers. In the championship standings, both Ryan Villopoto (SX450) and “Rookie” Adam Cianciarulo (SX250) consolidated their leading positions. The biggest unlucky rider was Ken Roczen, who, due to some bad luck, could only take one meager point in Detroit.

James Stewart took the lead on the second lap and never relinquished it. It was Stewart's third win of the season and also his 48th of his career. That immediately puts him in partial second place next to Ricky Carmichael in the SX450 All-Time winners. Second place in Detroit went to current leader Ryan Villopoto. He immediately increased his lead in the standings and now already has a 30-point lead over the new second man Ryan Dungey, who finished third in Detroit. The most unlucky one was Ken Roczen, who had problems with a stuck rear brake and that also sidelined him for a while. But more than twentieth place was not possible and therefore a serious loss of points for the German in the standings where he drops to fourth place. Fourth place in the Main Event went to Andrew Short, who held off Justin Barcia.

“Rookie” Adam Cianciarulo took his third SX win of the season in Detroit. In the fourth lap he was able to benefit from a mistake by his teammate Martin Davalos. Adam Cianciarulo took over the lead, but was put under pressure by Justin Bogle throughout the Main Event. But the young Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider kept everything under control to win ahead of Justin Bogle and Blake Baggett. In the standings after five races, Cainciarulo already has a lead of seventeen points over his teammate Martin Davalos and twenty points over the third man in the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team Blake Baggett.
