Grizzly Racing, is competing with a true junior team in numerous races this year and we will experience that in the coming months. Richard de Beer, owner of Grizzly Racing is no stranger in the pits. After winning the world title with Conrad Mewse last season, he has set the bar even higher for this year. De Beer is coming up with a real youth team! No less than seven drivers will keep the team's colours high. Jarni Kooij is one of these drivers and was at the start in Axel, Zeeland, yesterday.

Jarni Kooij made his appearance among the 25 other registered riders to start in the first club race of the season. With many hours in Dunkirk under his belt and the opening match in Lommel in mind, Jarni came to Axel with a lot of confidence. Yet we must immediately mention that Jarni has a love-hate relationship with the track. The last three times he started here, he was never able to leave the arena unscathed. It is therefore no wonder that Jarni is somewhat reluctant towards Axel. Yet it is a track where he really enjoys riding.

The rider, supported by MX-Scouting, already showed in training that he would be the man to beat with very fast lap times. In the first series he had a nice start and was able to plan his own race. However, the Grizzly racing rider had a short fall and saw his lead shrink to around 9 seconds at the finish. The second series, and also the last of the day, became a copy of the first good start and now the focus was on it throughout the entire race. This resulted in a very good race on the medium-difficult circuit. Jarni also won this series with conviction and was no less than 30 seconds ahead of the second man.

With this day's victory, Jarni Kooij is in the lead at RES Axel in the club championship with the maximum number of points. It remains to be seen whether Jarni will also participate in the other competitions in Axel. In the coming days it will be checked whether the other club matches fit into the busy schedule of ONK, ADAC and European Championship matches. The fact is that with a view to the ONK competition in April, he has already shown that he is a candidate for the podium.
