Dhey everybody! do you still remember me? Wouts is still alive!
MXMag asked me to write a column from time to time about what I'm doing these days, which I will happily do! As those who know me already know, I prefer to do it than write it, but anyway, here's an attempt!
This winter has been a little different for me than in previous years. I had an operation scheduled for my wrist on December 6 and that messed up the usual schedule a bit. The operation on the wrist was a consequence of my fall during the GP of Valkenswaard last year. That's why I continued training with the motorcycle until just before the operation. After the operation, I took complete rest for 2 weeks before starting the physical training at ease. 6 weeks later I was finally allowed to get back on the bike, which was quite a relief.
I have been training with the bike for about 3 weeks now and I have to admit that it is only now starting to fall into place. In the beginning everything felt a bit stiff and I couldn't find my way. But luckily it all works out at the right time.
Just like last year, I will be riding in Germany again this year for the Pfeil Kawasaki team. My “season” in Germany doesn't actually start until April 6 in Schnaitheim, but I will do a few preparatory races beforehand. The first will be in Valence next week. The course itself doesn't suit me very well, but it is always good to get into a competitive rhythm among the big boys. On the other hand, I really enjoy riding in Hawkstone Park the following week. I will also participate in the first 2 training sessions
Once the season has started in Germany I have a busy schedule there, but normally I will still be able to participate in the Belgian Championships in Beervelde and Balen. It is always fun to ride in front of my own audience in Belgium so that friends, family and fans can see me at work a few times. This year I will only be participating in GP's in Germany.
I'm really looking forward to getting back behind the starting gate and starting the races and I will keep you regularly informed of my results on my Facebookpagina (with link to page).
If you still have some time, be sure to check out the great interview the new MXLIFE magazine!
but for now, see you next time and feel free to come along to the competitions!
