Mike Kras added the supercross in Goes to his list of achievements last Saturday. The Rockstar Beursfoon Suzuki pilot proved himself more than a size too strong for Jurgen Wybo who finished in second place and for the Brit Christopher Bayliss in the Zeelandhallen. Our other compatriot Kristof Salaets finished a respectable fourth in the final on Saturday.

Other compatriots who made positive comments were the youngsters Ian De Sweemer and Bo De Clercq. Both, together with Brain van der Klij, provided a spectacle in the 85cc large wheels. For Bo De Clercq it was also his last race on an 85cc machine, next season the FMX Forever pilot will compete on a 125cc machine.

After the match we quizzed winner Mike Kras, this is what he had to say.

MXM: You win for the first time this weekend in Goes, how does this feel?
Kras: It started well, I immediately had the holeshot in the final, for a moment I was afraid that they would chase me from behind, but that didn't happen. Today I had hoped to get a little more resistance from Jurgen (Wybo), not too much of course, but just enough to make it a fun battle. He rode well, he could follow, but he just had the extra step to go even faster. So I was able to move around in a reasonably controlled manner and that went very smoothly. I am now really happy that I am on Goes' list. Previously it was always just not possible and now it finally is!
MXM: You jumped certain obstacles that your opponents didn't even think about, even though you haven't ridden that much supercross this year!
Kras: This year I actually haven't ridden much supercross. The only preparation I had was that I came here to test twice, but then the sand was much wetter than today and you could not jump what you could jump today. But this weekend it went really well, I had a lot of confidence in the Rockstar Beursfoon Suzuki and if the engine works well you can easily jump everything. I don't really understand why the opposition did not jump certain obstacles, because I have never experienced a dangerous situation when jumping. Now I can't do it for them and for me it went very well, I had a lot of fun for a whole weekend.
MXM: You are clearly full of confidence, will that confidence also have a positive influence in the 'off-season'?
Kras: Yes, I think so, my arms have been operated on and that certainly helps about 75%! Last season I often had to slow down after three or four laps, as I could no longer hold my handlebars properly. Now I notice that it is really better and if I can hold my handlebars firmly for 30 minutes, I can compete with the top riders in the Netherlands. I can count on a great team and great engines.
MXM: What program is waiting for you this season?
Scratch: This season I will ride the European Championship 300cc 2-stroke, the ONK MX1 and then a few European MX1 Grand Prix's.
