In contrast to our country, Italian sports fans have a bit more motorsport blood in their bodies. Antonio Cairoli was elected sportsman of the year in Italy by SKY sports today. Cairoli, who won his seventh world title this year, left big names such as Valentino Rossi, Francesco Totti, Mario Balotelli, Luigi Datome, Vincenzo Nibali, Patrizia Pellegrini and Andrea Pirlo behind him. In the final round, it was still between him and volleyball player Ivan Zaytsev. Tony won with 8238 votes, compared to 4804 for his opponent.
