HThe board of the Belgian Motorcyclists' Federation, the team manager of the national Motocross team, Joel Smets and the riders (Ken De Dycker, Clément Desalle and Jéremy Vanhorebeek) were very surprised and disappointed to hear about the 'super nominees' for the title of 'Sports Team of the Year 2013'.
Without wishing to detract from the great performance of the national hockey and volleyball team and the qualification of the Red Devils for the Football World Cup, no one can ignore the fact that the national motocross team in Teutschenthal, Germany, won the world championship for national teams during the Motocross of Nations won.
“After almost 10 years of fighting, we have finally succeeded in bringing the coveted world title to Belgium. It literally cost the riders and entourage blood, sweat and tears... this lack of recognition is extremely painful!!” said the bewildered national coach Joël Smets.
Indeed, the victory did not come without a fight. The riders faced some setbacks and had to do their utmost to win the title ahead of the other favorites such as the United States, France, Germany, Australia and Italy.
It is therefore a great disappointment and shows little respect for our beautiful sporting discipline.
A discipline, not to be forgotten, where our country can present the best World Cup record!
