EThe first competition for the OZK 2013 was a success at the RES circuit in Axel.
Beautiful, good and exciting matches were shown at one of the most beautiful accommodations in the Netherlands.
Of course there could have been a few more participants in some classes, such as in the MX 1.
But hey, you can't have everything.
50 cc
One participant Jovanni Jaspers from Zegge.
Unfortunately, he was not eligible for a cup because he was unable to complete a single lap, at his own request on the big track, which turned out to be a bit too powerful and heavy.
65 cc
Luca Dhanis from Terneuzen can often be found in Axel because he dominated the 65 cc. He won both heats with a lead of more than thirty seconds. Second place in both heats went to Lourens de Ligt from Middelharnis. Third in the first heat was Joshua van Doorn from Middelburg. In the second heat this position was for Floris van Gremberghe from Koewacht after he had finished eighth in the first heats. Jarno Acke from Middelharnis finished fourth in the first heat. In the second he took sixth place. With these results he managed to win the day's classification for the small wheels. Danny van de Bosse from Ovezande and Bryan Nelis from Yerseke were allowed to accompany him to the stage. The third podium place among the big wheels was behind Dhanis and Van de Ligt, ahead of Collin van Well from Lewedorp.
85 cc
Both heats ultimately became a prey for Bart Klijn from Ouddorp. He did not receive the victory as a gift, because the competition from Stan Brons from 's-Heer Abtskerke and Siemon Bezuijen from Ouddorp was too strong. The little Bronze in particular did everything he could to set the tone in the second heat. He also managed to take the lead for a number of laps after Klijn had started in the lead. Towards the end, Brons made a mistake and Klijn managed to take advantage of it and take the win. Third again was Bezuijen. Timo Dhanis finished sixth in the first moto but did better in the second moto with a fourth place. With the small wheels there was a great battle, especially in the first round, between Mack Bouwense from Gouda and Dailey van de Ketterij from Vlissingen. Bouwense won that battle. In the second heat Bouwense had taken some more distance. The third podium place went to Maicky Bonsel from Kuitaart.
MX 2 2-strokes
In the first heat, Jordan Lee van Maaren from Vlissingen was the fastest in this class. He took the lead in the opening lap and managed to extend it slightly. In second place in this heat is the Belgian Dylan Laenen from Gingelom. Ultimately, Jordi van de Wiele from St.Jansteen came third. He had a significantly poorer start and perhaps had to get used to the two-stroke first because he always comes out with a four-stroke. Home rider Tom Cortvriendt took fourth place. After the start, he was the first to pass timekeeper Johan Geluk and came second at the end of the first lap, but then had to give up two places. In the second heat Cortvriendt again took the fastest path. Van de Wiele, Van Maaren and Laenen rush past at lightning speed. The battle for the lead continues throughout the heat between Van de Wiele and Van Maaren. Laenen has to let the two gain some distance to leave the battle towards the end. Van Maaren, who had to compete in the ONK a day later, may or may not have to settle for second place. However, that is enough to take the day's win for the same Van de Wiele and Carsten Goedegebure. Behind them are Dominique Soeters and Boy Stockman from Terneuzen. Veteran Aswin Vandamme from Zuiddorpe comes in a good sixth place.
MX 2 4-strokes
In the first heat it was Michael de Groot from Oud-Beijerland who took the lead and managed to lead the pack for two laps. Gian Scheele, the newly crowned MCLB champion in the national class, then took the lead. This party only lasted one lap and it was the eventual winner of this heat Kevin Spruijt who was in control. De Groot managed to take second place from Scheele in the final phase. Gian Carlo Buijs, Joey Verwijs, Jordy van 't Hof and Martijn Roos followed in the same lap.
In the second round De Groot was again the fastest at the first corner, ahead of Spruijt and Verwijs. The latter crashed in the first corner and found himself back in seventeenth place. Spruijt took over the lead on the first lap and managed to hold it until the checkered flag. Once again De Groot came second ahead of Scheele and Buijs and Glenn de Rijk. The rest follows one or more laps behind. Verwijs manages to come back to eighth place.
MX 1
Too bad there wasn't that much interest here. The win ultimately went to Rob Konings from Essen, Belgium. Jeffrey van Kempen from Oost-Souburg initially seemed to have the best credentials. He won the first heat with force majeure on his Yamaha. Konings came second ahead of Boy Stockman. The rider from Terneuzen had a somewhat poor start, but managed to slip past Erik Koote from Sommelsdijk in the last lap. Dee-Jay Bijvank from Terneuzen, who made his debut on a 450 cc Yamaha, came fifth. Van Kempen also seemed to be on his way to a heat victory in the second moto. Towards the end he had to drastically slow down the pace and Konings was the only one who managed to take advantage of this. In all likelihood, Van Kempen was still suffering from the after-effects of glandular fever and became tired as a result. Bijvank now came third ahead of Koote, Thomas Adriaanse and Stockman.
Veterans
One man ruled here and that was Patrick Piessens from Heikant. The Kawasaki rider managed to gain distance in the opening phase and maintained it until the black and white checkered finish flag. Erik van der Wekken from Zierikzee tried to catch up but had to settle for second place in the first heat. The third man was also fixed from the start: Bart Mangnus from Vogelwaarde. The fourth place bet did result in a battle. Fast starter Peter Hemelaer seemed to be on his way to fourth place. However, it was Aswin Vandamme from Zuiddorpe who managed to get past the Belgian in the final phase. Sixth came the strong riding Davy Dousselaere from Melle, Belgium. The only lady in this group, Yvonne Weterings from Zundert, managed to hold her own in the field of twenty-one participants with ninth place. Piessens was again unable to keep up in the second heat. Van der Wekken came second again for a few laps, but was replaced by Mangnus on the third lap and Vandamme also managed to pass him. Hemelaer completed the top five. Weterings now finished twelfth. All in all a successful day and with that we can compliment the organizing club RES-Axel. The second OZK will start in Wemeldinge next Saturday.
