Antonio Cairoli has become the big winner of this triptych. After winning in Sweden and Latvia, Cairoli also took the victory in the Finnish Hyvinkää. With two series victories, there was simply not much to do against the little Italian. After Cairoli, we had no less than four compatriots in the places of honor, followed by Desalle, Strijbos, De Dijcker and Van Horebeek. Unfortunately, they now had to acknowledge the superior in Antonio Cairoli…
Antonio Cairoli only had to tolerate our compatriot Clement Desalle in the first series. But on the sixteenth lap he had enough and took over the leading position and drove away from Desalle. In the second series it was Kevin Strijbos who took the holeshot and Cairoli was able to take the lead in the first lap and thus further dominate the race. This immediately became the third victory in a row for Antonio Cairoli.
Clement Desalle took the second podium place in Finland with a second and third place. In the first heat, Desalle was in the lead for a long time until Cairoli came over. In the second series, Desalle started third and was in a duel with Tommy Searle for third place in the middle of the series, but after a strong fight Desalle finally took over third place. At the end he drove towards his teammate Strijbos for second place, but Strijbos had enough breath to keep Desalle behind him.
On the third podium we had Kevin Strijbos who reached the podium for the second time this season. In the first series Strijbos finished fifth and in the repeat he finished second behind Cairoli after the holeshot.
Ken De Dijcker finished third and sixth in the final standings of the Finnish Grand Prix. After two slightly worse starts, that was the highest achievable for De Dijcker.
Jeremy Van Horebeek once again took two top five places in the series. With a fourth and fifth place he finished fifth in the final score. It's a shame that he had to let his teammate Paulin go ahead for fourth place in the last lap of the second series.
Joel Roelants of the Monster Energy Yamaha team took tenth place twice in the heats and also finished tenth in the final standings of the grand prix.
Apart from the Belgian violence in the top five, we got Gautier Paulin in sixth place. Paulin finished sixth in the first heat and was able to overtake his teammate Van Horebeek for fourth place in the second heat in the final laps. But the Frenchman still has to concede the necessary points to the leader in the standings Antonio Cairoli.
