Wwho could have won other than Marc De Reuver during the Belgian National in Lommel. Well, that is a question that could have been answered surprisingly. The list of participants was one to lick your fingers and thumbs: De Reuver, Delincé, Wouts, Van Daele, Boot, Truyts, Kovalainen, Van Beveren … and so on. Yet the experienced Dutchman did not let himself be thrown off balance by anything or anyone and completed very nice, flawless rounds.

In the first series it was Mark Boot who took a nice holeshot. For a full lap, the Zeelander held off ex GP pilot Marc De Reuver. Just before the start of the second rounds, Mark had to recognize his superior. From that moment on it was clear who would win the first series. Not long after De Reuver passed his compatriot, it was Jeremy Delincé who also advanced. After a nice start and some good opening laps, the 23-year-old Waal is now in second place. He will also keep this place until the end. For third place we had a small duel between Van Daele and Wouts. It was Kevin Wouts who came out on top. Marvin Van Daele finished fourth. Kristof Salaets finished fifth ahead of Frenchman Adrien Van Beveren. Lead starter Mark Boot fell back to ninth place with his arms pumped up.

In the second heat it was Marvin Van Daele's turn to take the holeshot. Winner of the first series Marc De Reuver was not to be found in the top 10. Kevin Wouts did, but crashed very spectacularly after just a few corners. Fortunately, without too much damage and he was able to continue his match. While De Reuver cut through the pack like a knife through butter, it was Marvin Van Daele who easily took the lead. But this didn't last long. Calimero opened up his throttle and went all out for first place, which he took over on the third lap. Behind him a great fight was going on between Delincé, Van Daele and Van Beveren. In the fifth round, however, the pressure became too much for Delincé. He crashed and gave Van Daele free rein. With that free track, Marvin was also able to quickly drive away from Yamaha rider Van Beveren. The Salaets - Truyts match was now for fourth place. Lap after lap they put each other under pressure and gave the spectators their money's worth. Salaets ultimately came out on top. Due to Kevin Wouts' impressive comeback from the very back to sixth place, there was plenty of room for the podium.

The daily ranking is as follows: Marc De Reuver wins with a perfect score of 50 points. Marvin Van Daele finishes second with 40 points. Jeremy Delincé is the first non-GP rider with 36pts. Adrien Van Beveren and Kevin Wouts both have 35pts. But the second series is decisive and puts Van Beveren in fourth place. Sixth is Kristof Salaets with 34pts. 7. Andy Truyts 30pts. 8. Axel Van de Sande 25pts. 9. Mark Boot 24pts. 10 Marko Kovalainen 23pts.

Side series news

85cc: In the 85cc class we once again had Jago Geerts in action on Belgian soil. The super talent who lives just a few kilometers away showed his skills in the sand and took both series victories. Yet he did not receive them as a gift. Kim Savaste stayed close to Geerts' rear wheel during both series and kept the pressure on. Brent Serneels was third on the podium.

Promises 125cc: We got an interesting name at the start of the 125cc promises. Cyril Genot made it when he was 14e anniversary of his 125cc debut. Just old enough to ride that big machine. Yet he didn't seem to be ready for his test piece. He drove around with remarkable ease and looked like a true Jeffrey Herlings, the leads of 53 and 54 seconds are self-evident. Michiel Breugelmans in turn enjoyed two great starts. Even the few 250 4-strokes in the promises series could not beat him towards the first corner. Jordi Van Mieghem takes the last step.

Juniors Open: There was tension during the second series of the junior open. Unfortunately, I have only seen a few single rounds of this series myself, including the last one. Robin Gilissen, Ken Craeghs, Kenneth Martens and Robin Nijs all fought for the victory. The difference between these pilots was only three seconds at the finish. By far the most exciting series of the day. What was also beautiful were the scenes after the finish. Everyone is super “pumped” after such a great match and everyone congratulates everyone. Then suddenly the adrenaline drops and everyone realizes that they have just gone all out for 20 minutes in the warm sun on the loose sand of Lommel. Shortage of water and air conditioning. Well done guys!

Nationals open: Just a shoutout to Tom Cuyvers and his friendly family. Thank you for the comfortable afternoon break and the nice chat. And congratulations on Tom's two great starts. In the first series, however, it was Dave Van Dun who still had energy left at the end and walked away with the victory. In the second series we received a demonstration from Maarten Cremers. Jerry Nuydens finished second and Dave Van Dun third. The daily ranking is Dave Van Dun, Jerry Nuydens and Maarten Cremers.

Quads: There was a comical atmosphere as only five quads lined up for the first heat. But we quickly lost our laughter. In both series it was Sunny Desintebin and Davy De Cuyper who challenged each other. Not in the usual quad style, but American style. With passing maneuvers and scary moments lap after lap, bend after bend, this was the most exciting class of the entire day. Ultimately it was Davy De Cuyper who took the day's victory ahead of Sunny Desintebin. Thanks to a victory by just 0,6 seconds in the second series.

Seniors/Masters: After a tumultuous start in the first series, it was Hans Alenteyns who won ahead of Niels Haccuria and Mario Verreyt. This was also the result of the second series and of the daily ranking for the Seniors. In the masters the victory was clear for Vincent Genot, Patrick Shurmans finished second and third was Werner Renders. Patrick Hemelaer finished third in the second series, but the congestion at the start of the first series cost him a better overall ranking.

The next bmb competition is July 14 in Hasselt. The Quads and the Sidecars will be here too, all heading there! A photo gallery of Lommel will follow here on mxmag.be
