Next Sunday will be one of the highlights of the Belgian motorsport year. Because then the Belgian Masters of Moto X circus will descend on the Kesterheide.
The annual competition of AMC Dworp at the Kesterheide in Gooik is certainly a classic.
JEvery year thousands of spectators descend on this beautiful piece of Pajottenland. It is mainly the combination of a strong field of participants and a natural, panoramic circuit that attracts them. And this year will be no different. The volunteers of AMC Dworp have been busy for a number of weeks getting the circuit in order. Not an easy job because the circuit is located in a nature reserve and therefore every form of infrastructure - from tents to telephone cable - has to be constructed anew every year.
Radson Trophy
Ken De Dycker (Red Bull KTM) starts in Kester as leader in the Radson Trophy. Close opponent Kevin Strijbos - who finished second during the opening test in Mons - is forced to skip this round of the BMMX due to commitments in the States. But that does not mean that De Dycker will simply be given free rein on the flanks of the Kesterheide. Far from it, because the organizing club can once again present an impressive field of participants. For example, 'Local hero' Jeremy Van Horebeek will take office and he has already shown in recent GPs that he has increasingly mastered his factory Kawasaki and is therefore also a formidable candidate for victory. The other Belgian MX1 rookie, Joël Roelants, will also travel to Kester. We can consider the Monster Energy Yamaha rider as an outsider. In addition to these two rookies, old fox Steve “The Bomb” Ramon also drops out. The man from West Flanders recently broke with the English BuildBase Honda team and was finally added to the list of participants. Ramon will be supported by the Geboers Suzuki teams.
In addition to these, there are of course also all the national top players such as Jeremy Delincé (last year series winner & third overall), Marvin Van Daele, Manuel Priem, Nick Triest and Kevin Fors.
The foreign delegation also looks impressive. In addition to regular BMMX customers such as Davide Guarneri, Evgeny Bobryshev and Shaun Simpson, AMC Dworp managed to attract a number of other MX1 and MX2 top riders. Max Nagl, Rui Goncalves, Jordi Tixier, Jake Nicholls and Petar Petrov have to make life difficult for the Belgians.
Monster Energy Trophy
For the opening race in Mons, Damon Graulus (Standing Construct KTM) was put forward as an absolute title candidate. But the Tervuren resident had to discover in the capital of Hainaut that that role of favorite was more difficult to fill than expected. After all, it was the young Swede Jesper Jönsson (Vamo Racing Suzuki) who left Mons as leader in the MX2 class. Nevertheless, Kesterheide is tailor-made for the runner-up in the EK250 standings. Yet there are a number of other privateers on the coast. And then we think first of Brent Van Doninck (Scott KTM) and Julien Van Stippen (FMX4Ever KTM), but also of Peter Irt and local hero Wietse Brackman (both Vamo Racing Suzuki).
In addition to both Interclasses, the boys from the BK Sidecar Cross, the Quads and the Nationals MX1/3 will also be in action on Sunday. The other BMB Motocross classes will already complete their competition on Saturday.
