Evgeny Bobryshev will not be able to compete in the Italian Grand Prix this weekend. The always likeable Russian fell during a training session on the Faenza circuit on Wednesday. It was only a small fall, but it has serious consequences. At first it was thought to be a serious ankle sprain, but a few days later a small fracture in the fibula was discovered…

Evgeny Bobryshev : What can I say… I am disappointed not only for the team and sponsors but also for myself. Everyone and I put so much work into this and to miss a race because of a small fall is a very bitter pill to swallow. After Valkenswaard we went to race in Belgium and then to Italy for the harder surface. Everything was going perfectly until then, the bike was good and I had the speed. So I felt really positive for the weekend. In my first laps on the Faenza circuit I hit a rut with my foot and had a small fall. It was such a harmless fall that even the guys from the team didn’t come to check if I was okay. I just kept riding and felt a bit uncomfortable a bit later and rode back in. I was happy to hear that it was just a sprain and there was certainly no doubt that I wouldn’t be able to ride at the weekend. But the last few nights I was in really bad pain and we did a more detailed examination of the painful area. The doctors found a small fracture, it is a small clean straight fracture. But it will take about three weeks to heal properly. I can only say sorry to everyone and am very disappointed that I cannot drive on the weekend.
