Bill Nilsson, Sten Lundin, Torsten Hallman, Hakan Andersson and Hakan Carlqvist were the real Swedish Vikings who could still put Motocross on the map. The last Swedish World Champion dates back to 1994 with Marcus Hanson. But now we are in the year 2012 and there is no one from the Swedish continent who can really compete with the world top. So we have to look for the favorites elsewhere.
The Italian Antonio Cairoli, who has already won the GP in Sweden four times, starts as the big favourite. His teammate at KTM Ken De Dijcker also has a good memory of the Uddevalla circuit. Keeno took his very first GP victory of his career in Sweden. Can he take his first podium of the season on Sunday!!!
Clement Desalle will certainly fight for victory in Sweden. After he lost the victory in Bastonge to an overly strong Antonio Cairoli, he wants to take revenge.
Or can Kevin Strijbos, who just missed the podium in Bastogne, compete again for the honorary places. At our northern neighbors we will have Marc De Reuver at the start again. Marc will replace the injured Dean Ferris with the ICE1RACING Team for the remainder of the season. In the Bastogne GP, De Reuver already picked up some points for his new team.
Last year, the now injured Steven Frossard took victory in Uddevalla. Perhaps now Pourcel or Paulin can once again let the French flag fly on the highest podium spot.
