Ex-GP rider Josh Coppins won the second round of the Australian Monster Energy MX Nationals in the MX1 class last weekend.
The first two heats went to Campbell Mining Honda's Jake Moss at Coonabarabran. However, Moss blew it in the third moto with the victory going to Josh Coppins (Craig Dack Racing Yamaha). Coppins had previously recorded a 4th and 3rd place in the heats.
However, there was also pleasant news in Coonabarabra where the other New Zealand star, Ben Townley, was injured for the umpteenth time. Townley was discharged with a hip injury.
Coppins now leads the Monster Energy MX Nationals with 125 points, which is 24 more than Jake Moss and 30 more than Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jay Marmont.
