The MX-Panda sent a clear signal to Tony Cairoli today: he has no intention of giving up this championship without a fight and will continue to fight until the end! Clément had to give up against Cairoli in the first series, but he got his revenge in the second series, which he won. Desalle not only managed to win the GP, he also made up 4 points on Cairoli. In the World Cup standings the difference is now 48 points.
Cairoli dominated the first moto from start to finish after taking the holeshot ahead of factory Honda duo Goncalves and Bobryshev. Desalle had to work hard to get ahead of the two Hondas because Goncalves in particular offered a lot of resistance. Kevin Strijbos, who replaces Steve Ramon at Rockstar-Suzuki, completed a regular race and finished sixth. Just like in previous years, the differences in Loket were again extremely small. After all, The Kid came in just 11,8 seconds behind winner Cairoli! LS Honda's Ken De Dycker moved up to 15th after a bad start. Marc De Reuver, who had a hard fall during the warm-up and injured his shoulder, did not appear at the start.
Dthe second race brought much more tension. TM rider Tanel Leok won the first series in Loket last year and the fast Estonian was once again eager to prove himself for main sponsor Casino Bonver. Unexpectedly, Leok even stormed to the holeshot and held the lead until halfway through the race. Desalle started well again in fourth after Leok, Boog and Goncalves. This time Clément wanted to get to the front as quickly as possible and that turned out well. The MX-Panda showed its courage, especially in the overtaking maneuver on Goncalves. Afterwards Desalle said: “It was very difficult to pass, you had to be aggressive and show that you were there! Hence the aggressive pass on moult. Not so friendly but it had to be done, sorry about that Rui!” Three laps later, Leok was killed. While Tanel fought hard to maintain second place, Cairoli fought his way to the front after a bad start. The Italian would eventually finish 4th ahead of his ex-MX2 competitor Christophe Pourcel. Kevin Strijbos now finished eighth ahead of fellow countryman De Dycker. Evgeny Bobryshev had a disastrous second series with two falls and even had to abandon the fight
