Chad Reed remains in the lead in the 450 Class. The Australian was third in the first moto at Budds Creek and won the second moto. Ryan Villopoto was the strongest in the first, very hot race. After the break RV was third. A regular Ryan Dungey was second twice. Mike Alessi started super fast twice; but he had to settle for 5th place in the end. Honda factory rider Josh Grant made his comeback after a long absence with a knee injury with a 10th place.
In the Lites class, Tyla Rattray (2-1) was the smartest and most consistent. The South African ex-MX2 world champion also remains in the lead of the championship. Especially Styla's strong second heat, which he won with a ten-second lead over Tomac, confirms him as a title contender. Teammate Dean Wilson (1-3) finished second in the final standings, Justin Barcia (6-2) finished third. In the second heat, only two South Africans (in the US there is a podium after every heat) were on the podium, as Swanepoel finished fourth.
