ZSaturday April 16th with a lovely spring sun is the 3e RES club cross 2011. The circuit was nicely loosened, sprayed a bit and let's go.

65cc: Unfortunately here there was a low number of participants of only 6 people, but this made little difference to the participants. These guys made it their own competition. In the first series it was Timo Dhanis (Terneuzen) who won the first series, ahead of Jayden Hoek (Oost-Souburg) and Justin de Vos (Terneuzen) in third place. Brent van Delft (St.Amands) finished fourth in series 1. Timo's little brother, Luca Dhanis (Terneuzen) completed the top five.

In the second series, Jayden Hoek seemed to be trying to make it difficult for Timo, but a crash in the second round threw a spanner in the works and Jayden Hoek was forced to chase. Justin de Vos, who is also riding increasingly stronger, did not care about this crash and settled into a neat second place in series 2 behind the leader Timo Dhanis, who again won the series ahead of Justin de Vos. In third place it was now Jayden Hoek. Brent van Delft copied his performance from series one in series two by finishing fourth. Luca Dhanis completed the top five and came last in this series, with the young man from Kapelle, John Stout, in sixth place.

Final result 65 cc:1.Timo Dhanis, 2.Justin de Vos, 3.Jayden Hoek, 4.Brent van Delft, 5.Luca Dhanis.

85cc: The first victory in his short cross career for Axelaar Tom Cortvriendt, who took off like a rocket in the first series to win the series with control. This was just ahead of the man from s'Heer Abtserke Stan Brons, who completed a neat series. Third place went to Laurens de Ridder (Kuitaart), with Aron van de Veer from Herkingen behind him in four. Jules Adam (Axel) recorded his best result by finishing in fifth place. Rutger de Rijcke (Terneuzen) completes the top 6. Lars de Nood (East Souburg) unfortunately had to cancel his participation due to an unfortunate fall.

During the second series it remained exciting to see who would take home the victory. The clearly somewhat nervous Cortvriendt could not really distance himself from Stan Brons. Until the same Bronze made a mistake two laps from the end and experienced a spectacular crash without any serious consequences. This took the pressure off for Cortvriendt and he could immediately head for his first victory of his career unthreatened. In second place there was Stan Brons. Third, the checkered flag now passed Aron van de Veer with Laurens de Ridder behind him in fourth place. Jules Adam was on five and was therefore allowed to take the podium for his first cup. Rutger de Rijcke finished in sixth place.

Final result 85 cc:1.Tom Cortvriendt, 2.Stan Brons, 3.Aron ven de Veer, 4. Laurens de Ridder, 5. Jules Adam.

MX-2: Joey Verwijs (Lepelstraat) was the man of the race here and rode a perfect start finish victory. He rode his own series and his victory was never in danger. The battle for second place was a lot more exciting because every inch was fought for. The English guest driver George Redhead and Aswin Van Damme (Zuiddorpe) rode wheel to wheel for long laps. In the end it was the spectacularly riding Redhead who prevailed and finished in second place. Aswin van Damme had to settle for third place. Behind him in a neat fourth place was a strong driving Sven Goossen (Oost-Eeklo). Dimitri Lamotte came in fifth. Sixth man in the first series was Jorn Colijn (Axel).

The second series again a first place for the man from Lepelstraat Joey Verwijs who steered his KTM to victory. In second place this time also George Redhead, who was able to return to England tired but satisfied. In third place, emerging talent Michael Bruyninckx (Lembeke) finished third. Aswin van Damme in fourth and Thomas de Ridder in fifth who rode a good race. On six this series Sven Goossen. It always remains exciting in the MX 2 class with many evenly matched riders.

Final score MX 2: 1. Joey Verwijs, 2. George Redhead, 3. Aswin van Damme, 4. Michael Bruyninckx, 5. Sven Goossen.

Veterans A: In series 1 the holeshot was for Maikel van de Goor (Vlissingen), for Bart Mangnus (Vogelwaarde) and Erik van de Wekken (Zierikzee). In the second round it was van de Wekken who put things in order and took over command from Bart Schilderman (Opoeteren) and van de Goor. Ivan Robijn (Stekene) managed to finish fourth. Bart Mangnus had clearly given a little too much in the first laps and crossed the finish line quite tired in fifth.

The second series went almost the same as series one, with Erik van de Wekken again clearly improving and winning. Bart Schilderman in second, with Ivan Robijn in third and Maikel van de Goor in fourth. Bart Mangnus again took fifth place.

Final score Veterans A: 1. Erik van de Wekken, 2. Bart Schildermans, 3. Ivan Robijn, 4. Maikel van de Goor, 5. Bart Mangnus.

Veterans B: By splitting this class at the beginning of the year, a true competition has been created for the 55+ men and they are therefore very evenly matched, because in the combined series with the veterans A, the B men quickly find each other. It was Ron Doppegieter (Hoofdplaat) who won the first series. However, Marc Standaert (Lembeke) did not lose sight of Doppegieter and he was able to come in at a decent 2nd place in series 1. On three Frank van de Geughte (Knokke-Heist) and on four Jos Machiels (Diepenbeek). Sigurd Vanrijsselberghe completed the top 5.

In the second series it was Doppegieter again who claimed victory ahead of an increasingly improving Marc Standaert, who equaled his performance from the first series. After three Jos Machiels, fourth in the second series was Frank van de Geughte and again a fifth place for Sigurd Vanrijssel Berghe.

Final score Veterans B: 1. Ron Doppegieter, 2. Marc Standaert, 3. Jos Mchiels, 4. Frank van de Geughte, 5. Sigurd Vanrijselberghe.

MX-open : Here's a nice double victory for the man from Heikant Patrick Piessens. After some slightly lesser matches, Piessens will return to the form he stopped 12 years ago, or will he get even better? In any case, there were flawless, tight series on Saturday. In the first series it was Bart Seymortier (Adegem) who came second behind Piessens. Christophe Albrecht (Bornem) also starts to ride better and better on the Suzuki two-stroke with a third place as his share. Behind the third man Albrecht there was a duel between Pascal de Zeeuw (Zuiddorpe) and Martin Boodt (Vrouwenpolder) for a long time. Both of these riders changed motorcycle brands last week and will certainly continue to make progress in the coming weeks. De Zeeuw managed to finish fourth and Boodt fifth. Florentijn de Roo (Terneuzen) on six, but had a DNF in the second heat.

In the second series it was once again Piessens who finished the entire match unthreatened. Once again Bart Seymortier in second place. Also in third place in this series is Cristophe Albrecht. Four was now reserved for the poorly started Martijn Roos, who was able to overtake Pascal de Zeeuw in the last lap and thus referred de Zeeuw to a fifth place in series 2. Michael Maaskant (Lepelstraat) switched from the MX this week -2 to the Open Class but had no luck. In the first series he had problems with his glasses and had to slow down in the second series due to a problem with the front brake, but this adds another top rider to the class. Niels Jansen (Terneuzen) also put in a neat race on the 125 cc Honda two-stroke.

Final MX Open standings: 1. Patrick Piessens, 2. Bart Seymortier, 3. Cristophe Albrecht, 4. Pascal de Zeeuw, 5. Martijn Roos.

Licensees:
After four weeks of injuries, it was now the return of Roy Gijsel (Heikant) who immediately showed that the injury is a thing of the past. With two series victories, this was of course also the overall winner. In the first series, Jordy van de Wiele (St.Jansteen) finished in second place. Boy Stockman (Terneuzen) managed to score a decent third place. Jeffrey van Kempen (Oost-Souburg) crossed the finish line in fourth place. On five Kevin Spruijt (Meliskerke). A fantastic series where behind Roy Gijsel there was a battle for various places until the last corner. In the last corner of series one, it was Kevin van Houdt (Terneuzen) and Thomas Adriaanse (Lewedorp) who bit the dust when they came into contact with each other.

In the second series there was no limit for Roy Gijsel, who led the field from the start and only saw his competition again at the finish. In second place now a surprisingly strong Jeffrey van Kempen who has now found the right set-up for the bike. On three Jeroen Vanrijsselberghe (Aaigem) who, as usual, had a very consistent match. Thomas Adriaanse again had bad luck and had to slow down in the last four laps due to a flat rear tire, but was still able to finish fourth just ahead of Boy Stockman (Terneuzen)

Final score of Licensees: 1. Roy Gijsel, 2. Jeffrey van Kempen, 3. Boy Stockman, 4. Jeroen Vanrijsselberghe, 5. Thomas Adriaanse.
