DThis season looks set to be the most exciting in years. After last week, the championship seemed as good as decided, but the race in Jacksonville changed that. First, there was Ryan Villopoto who failed to reach the final. He crashed in his heat and left the race. In the last chance, the championship leader crashed twice more, which meant he only finished eighth. No points for Villopoto, which opened the door wide for Stewart. But Stewart couldn't stay on the bike this time either. At the start of the final, he crashed heavily and had to be carried off the track. There were fears for a broken pelvis, but afterwards everything turned out to be fine.

So when Villopoto and Stewart fail, the others see their opportunity. Trey Canard and Chad Reed fought a tough but fair duel from start to finish and in the end it was Canard who took his second victory of the season. Reed finished second and is now within seven points of leader Villopoto. Dungey finished third.

In the lites, the win went to Justin Barcia ahead of Dean Wilson and Ryan Sipes. Here too there was some commotion because second man in the points Blake Bagget also did not reach the final after crashes in his heat and the LCQ. Barcia is now comfortably in the lead, 17p ahead of Sipes and 19 ahead of Wilson.

Next week the riders will cross the Northern border for the race in Toronto, Canada.
