Dand 25th Strandcross in Vlissingen attracted a lot of interest. From a sporting point of view, it was not an excellent edition because in the Super Final the start was from the back of the car and it was quite chaotic. The arrival also brought more uncertainty. Because winner and beach racing specialist Ton Van Grinsven (#4 in the photo here) was not registered, Mike Kras was initially declared the winner! That way Ton even missed the ceremony.
It was exciting, even after more than 23 minutes of competition, the difference between Van Grinsven, Kras and Patrick Roos was barely a handful of seconds. The 42-year-old Van Grinsven drove a fantastic comeback race. Three-time winner Patrick Roos won the qualification but had to deal with clutch problems in the final. Tim Godrie became the first Belgian.
In MX2 Sander Van Herpen was fastest ahead of Mark Boot and Mike Van Den Bogaert. Click hhere to view the full results from Vlissingen.
