In Mettet, the flying Finn Mauno Hermunen convincingly won the 24th Superbiker. Some 40.000 spectators came down this weekend to explore the new circuit 'Jules Tacheny'. After 23 editions on the old circuit, this year the new facility was used for the first time. Perfectly clear and easily accessible for the public were the big assets. Due to the pleasant late summer sun, this was a perfect day out for every motorsport enthusiast.

Among the Supermoto specialists, the overall victory went to the Italian Ivan Lazzarini. Last year's overall winner did not win any series but benefited from Mauno Hermunen's bad luck in the second heat. Hermunen literally flew on the track today and after winning the series in race 1, he had to deal with technical problems in series 2. The victory in the second series went to Gerald Delephine. In the final standings, Lazzarini preceded Delephine and the German Kunzel.

Among the star bikers we saw a nice duel twice between Stephane Chambon and his compatriot Mickael Pichon. In the first heat, Pichon drove lap after lap to the wheel of 'le petit prince de la glisse', but he was a few laps short of taking the attack. In the second moto we had a direct duel from the start and Pichon was able to take advantage of a crash from Chambon to take the lead. Just like last year, he was the overall winner in the Starbiker ahead of Andrea Bartolini and Josh Coppins. Sven Breugelmans was the best compatriot in the final standings with sixth place, Ken de Dycker finished one place behind him and seemed to get better and better throughout the day.

In the super final the victory went to Hermunen, who led from start to finish. His teammate Adrien Chareyre came second and Ivan Lazzarini third. Eddy Seel was the first compatriot in fourth place. First star biker was Josh Coppins in sixteenth place.
