WAnyone who wants to go to a motocross race in Flanders this weekend has limited choice. VLM does with Pulderbos a classic destination. Moreover, you can go into the Youth trophy see the VLM toppers of the future at work.
On the Hasseltse Runkster gravel there will be a round of it for the fifth time on Sunday BK sidecar cross finished. Since a number of amateur federations do not have a competition, the field of participants will probably be better equipped than during the previous round in Oudenburg. And let's not forget that either Kristof Santermans, the driving force behind the organizing MC Santi, who is also a die-hard sidecar rider. As a GP rider it may be a little easier to attract colleagues to your race. Not only the sidecars are at the start in Hasselt, but also the Quads. A more extensive one preview of the Belgian National in Hasselt can be found with our colleagues at sidecarcross.be.
The Belgian National in Hasselt also had the home game of Jef Gevers must be. Unfortunately, Jef died on Wednesday during the... Everts and friends charity Event the consequences of a stroke. Jef and his wife Gaby have selflessly worked for decades to improve the results service of the BMB Motocross competitions to run as smoothly as possible. Jef and Gaby were always one of the first to attend a Belgian GP and were often one of the last to leave the circuit because their van and caravan had been built in by Heras fences, jury buses and other infrastructures. Perhaps Jef will be remembered on Sunday with a minute's silence, that is the least the BMB motocross community can do for someone who has served the sport for so long.
Still coming back to it Everts and Friends which in a few years has grown into one of the larger Belgian motocross competitions. It might be interesting for some dyed-in-the-wool organizers to look at the approach of Stefan Everts and Co in organizing this competition. To help them, we list the main differences between Everts and Friends and a classic BC/International competition at a glance:
– Short interesting competitions
– Other competition formulas
– Democratic entrance fee: (15 EURO)
– Presale via Sherpa.be
– Beautiful, appealing poster
– Promotion in MX Media (an exchange deal with all Flemish motorcycle-related media)
– Generating attention for the competition in the mainstream media (Villa Vanthilt, Sporza.be, TV Limburg, Het Belang Van Limburg….)
To conclude, a brief introduction GP Limburg. We wonder why there isn't one Belgian rider(s) on the poster of the Belgian GP. Are the Belgian drivers perhaps not good enough? It's also lucky that she is in the cabinet of Minister Muyters Apparently I didn't lose sleep over motocross or there might have been some waving. In exchange for the amount with which the GP Limburg is subsidized annually by Flemish governments (and NOT Dutch or German authorities), in our humble opinion, homegrown drivers should be on the bill. We cannot imagine that a Belgian rider would appear on the poster of the French GP, especially if he receives subsidies from local and regional authorities. So a strange move. Why not have a poster like that of the Belgian GP in Namur in 2004, when all the Belgian top riders were on it?
