NAfter a podium finish in Beervelde, Jurgen Wybo (2-1) not only had his first heat victory in Tongeren, the Kawasaki-MX Viaene also immediately became the overall winner. Admittedly with equal points compared to Nick Triest. Veteran Danny De Baets (Kemea-Yamaha) clearly had little trouble with the heat. He rode his strongest race of the season (4-3) and deservedly ended up on the final podium. Click here for the full results.

Nick Triest dominates the first series in MX2

Reigning Belgian MX2 champion Nick Triest left no doubt: he is still the patron in the lightest class. Triest (Shineray) took the holeshot ahead of Jeffrey De Wulf and systematically increased his lead. 'Quick Nick' crosses the line almost 30 seconds ahead of the experienced Jurgen Wybo. National Thomas Vilvorder finished fourth after De Wulf.

Nick Triest captivated the spectators in the second series with a blood-curdling catch-up race.

Wybo benefits maximum

After Nick Triest's holeshot, everyone thought 'the course is over'. Although it ultimately became a very animated match after an early goal by Triest. Moreover, he could not get his engine started right away. At first Fors seemed to benefit, but after four rounds he made a spectacular mistake on the table. This gave Woby the lead, while De Baets held on nicely in second. Meanwhile, Triest cut through (hot?) butter like a knife. From position 22, Nick fought his way all the way to the front. In the penultimate lap he pushed hard again and ended up just shy of the leader. Jens Getteman, the runner-up in the championship before Tongeren, had an off-day and only finished 15th. Wybo climbs from 3 to 2 in the standings.
