Wthat has been in the air for a while now seems to be confirmed. After this season Josh Coppins will hang up his helmet as GP pilot, that was announced today The Importance of Limburg. The 33-year-old New Zealander is turning 17de World Cup season.
The reason for The Lizzard is the difficult year he is going through with Aprilia and that it is time to take it easy. Josh lived his entire GP career in Balen, Belgium, but wants to return to New Zealand next year with his girlfriend Lisa and daughter Myla. In order to reduce his sporting activities - or kick the habit as he calls it - he wants to race 'locally' for another year, just like Joël Smets. We will probably see the two-time vice world champion competing in the Australian championship next year. It is not yet known which team he will drive for. After 9 GPs, Coppins is currently 14th in the MX1 World Championship.
