EA week after making a mistake in Saint-Hubert and losing a certain second place behind Cédric Cremer, Jean-François Goblet put the icing on the cake during the fourth round of the Belgian Enduro Championship in Bilstain. The Motocross Action-Yamaha rider once again outshone his rival to eventually take his third victory of the season with a fifty-second lead over Kevin Gauniaux.
After Cédric Cremer dropped out of the front with clutch problems, Gauniaux took second place, about 30 seconds ahead of Thierry Klutz. Gauniaux would have to give up a minute by installing a new clutch. Michaël Vukcevic, who felt completely at home on the trial passages of the Bilstain domain, finished 5th ahead of host Dany Crosset and Jérôme Martiny. The surprising winner of the previous round in Saint-Hubert, Wim Vanderheyden, had to settle for 9th place behind Roel Verpoorten but ahead of Arnaud Dermine after problems with the rear brake.
The next competition of the BK Enduro will take place on May 23 in Rocroi, France.
Comments
Jean-François Goblet (Yamaha/MX Action) – Winner
“After that mistake last week in Saint-Hubert, where I missed a time control, this victory is good for me. After Saint-Hubert I felt really tired and I forced myself to rest well this week. By the way, I only rode the bike once during the past week. Still, the rest period paid off because I am very satisfied with my race today. This is a very technical enduro with a high competition rhythm and so you had to remain 100% concentrated for a whole day to avoid making a mistake.”
Kevin Gauniaux (GasGas Belgique) – Second
“I had a good day. I rode well, although I sometimes dared to confuse speed with haste, which caused me to lose important seconds compared to Jeff. Anyway, he just stands out this year. I think he will be hard to beat for the championship. Nevertheless, I think he will be beaten in one match or another towards the end of the season.”
Thierry Klutz (Husqvarna) – Third
“Once again this was a very nice competition! After the problems with my motorcycle last weekend, I was loaned another motorcycle during the week, which I could certainly use. I am gradually getting back on track, but I realize that the first two places will be difficult to achieve because Jean-François and Kevin are simply very fast.”
