IIn Salt Lake City the penultimate SX of the season was held yesterday evening. The weather conditions in the Rice-Eccles stadium were not optimal, just like last week. Cold temperatures, rain and even snow were predicted and threw the entire program into disarray. The training sessions were shortened and after the training sessions some adjustments were needed to the track due to many crashes on the whoops.
Last week Kevin Windham proved he wasn't written off yet and he did so again this week. The Geico Powersports Honda rider only tolerated some resistance from Millsaps in the initial phase, but then rode a formidable race. In the slush he made his way around the obstacles and doubled up to become the fourth rider, just a few seconds behind Andrew Short, who finished third! Davi Millsaps came second, turning the podium red in Salt Lake City. SX champion Dungey finished fourth.
Chad Reed did not compete after the birth of his son Tate earlier this week.
In the lites, the victory went to PC-Kawasaki rider Josh Hansen. Hansen achieved his first victory of the season and thus makes up for a rather mediocre season. It was Will Hahn who took the fastest start, but Hansen took over command on the first lap. Despite the heavy snowfall, Hansen continued to jump everything and secured his victory. Trey Canard came in second and Hahn third. Jake Weimer only needed a top 15 finish to win the title and succeeded neatly with a fifth place. Weimer will therefore be at the start for the Lites Shootout next week in Las Vegas together with his teammate Pourcel with the number 1 plate.
