Shineray-piloot Nick Trieste won his very first Belgian title last year. That confirmed QuickNick his favorite role, but the campaign did not exactly go smoothly. This year too, Triest is the big favorite to win the MX2 title, because his Belgian GP colleagues Verbruggen, Roelants and Van Horebeek prefer the open class, or MX Pro Series.
The opposition of the reigning champion is a mix of young, often dashing and seasoned older riders. We will mainly be looking forward to the Motorsport Future boys. It seems like that Jens Getteman to present the best papers possible at this time, even though the newly repaired one was left behind Gunther Ghysels already recorded promising results last season. Also the young Walloon talents, Jerky January en Kevin Fors, fourth in the Rason MX2 Trophy last year, are names to keep an eye on. The experienced Jimmy Huysmans also becomes a major outsider. The surprising winner in Beervelde in 2009 Mark Boat, could in principle take another step forward. Additional Dutch input is provided by, among others, MON MX2 champion Maurice Klijn en Menno Aussems.
